Players assume the role of William Adams, a fictional version of the historical navigator and samurai. Trapped in a war between warring clans and Yokai, malevolent spirits from Japanese folklore, William embarks on a perilous journey to uncover his destiny and put an end to the chaos ravaging the land.

       As players progress through "Nioh", they earn amrita, a form of currency that allows them to level up their character and gain new skills. The game features an extensive skill tree that offers a wide range of combat abilities, magic spells, and passive bonuses. In addition, players can customize their character's appearance, armor, and weapons, enhancing their play style and personalizing their experience.

       One of the distinguishing aspects of "Nioh" is its challenging and complex combat system. Inspired by the “Soulsborne” series, the game rewards patience, precision and strategic thinking.
